I’m an English teacher at a small, rural school with about 560 students in grades 7-12.  During my 19 year teaching career I’ve taught nearly everything that an English teacher can teach: English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12, Remedial English for Standardized Testing, Reading Remediation, Honors English 10, AP Language and Comp, AP Literature and Comp, and dual college credit courses LITR 100, and Composition 101 & 102. I have also been a yearbook advisor and published the school newspaper.  For those of you who haven’t ever taught in a small school, let me assure you that this variety is quite normal.  We teach multiple preps and we adapt to whatever the current schedule demands. It’s challenging, but it also provides excitement and variety.  There’s never a chance to get bored!
